General description of the serviceGeneral Description of the Service

The Listening and Desk for University Students (S.A.C.S.), active since October 1, 2018, offers the student community a free and confidential space for psychological counseling. It helps students address difficulties related to adapting to the university environment, time management, and study methods, as well as relational issues with peers and/or professors, and symptoms of anxiety, stress, loss of motivation, and feelings of inadequacy. A short cycle of one-on-one sessions is available (in person or online via Teams). Additionally, in March 2025, the University launched a Staff Listening Desk focused on organizational wellbeing and managing workplace issues such as work-related stress, burnout, conflicts, and mobbing.

The service is open to students experiencing difficulties related to:

  • adjusting to university life
  • exam anxiety, stress, and ;
  • uncertainty about your choice of study;
  • feeling stuck with thesis preparation or the final stages of your degree;
  • relationship and emotional difficulties;
  • feelings of , isolation, or general dissatisfaction;

Eligible Users

The service is free of charge and open to all currently enrolled students, specifically to:

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students
  • PhD students and specializing students
  • Erasmus students (both incoming and outgoing)
  • Students with Disabilities and/or Specific Learning Difficulties

Note: Access is available for international students (excluding Erasmus/visiting students) and students with disabilities and/or SpLDs (coordination with the University’s inclusion services is highly recommended).

Number of free sessions offered: From 1 up to a maximum of 6 one-on-one sessions (approximately 60 minutes each)
: 1 session 4 to 6 months after the final appointment
Professional roles involved: Psychologists and psychotherapists

  • Career and Academic Counseling
  • Support during transitional phases (starting university, graduating)
  • Thesis Preparation Support
  • Exam Anxiety and Academic Stress Support
  • Support for study skills and time management;
  • Organizational wellbeing and work-related stress support for staff.

Service Delivery Methods

Sessions are available both in person and online; both options are open to all students.

Services for international and visiting students

The service offers:

  • sessions in English
  • Online sessions available (including from abroad)
  • Support for cultural adaptation
  • Liaison with International Offices

Erasmus students (both incoming and outgoing) can access a short cycle of sessions (1–6 sessions, plus a potential follow-up) under the same conditions as all other students.

In line with University hours, appointments can be requested during the following time slots: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
The service is available 11 months a year (closed in August), for a total of approximately 400 hours per year.
