On the occasion of the “Ottobre Rosa” regional campaign—dedicated to prevention, awareness, and health education for the early diagnosis of breast cancer—Sapienza University of Rome has promoted a rich calendar of initiatives aimed at the entire university community.
Among the main events, Tuesday, October 21st saw the rollout of “FrecciaRosa“, the campaign organized by the FS Group and the IncontraDonna Foundation, hosted at the FS Logistix premises. Throughout the day, free screenings and vaccinations were offered to both residents and non-residents of the ASL Roma 1 area, with the goal of making prevention increasingly accessible.
There was also a great turnout for the Health and Prevention Day, held on Thursday, October 23rd, along Viale della Minerva inside the main University Campus.
From 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, students, faculty, and technical-administrative staff were able to access free medical check-ups, screenings, and specialist consultations on a walk-in basis. This was made possible thanks to the collaboration with the Lazio Region, ASL Roma 1, Policlinico Umberto I, the Italian Red Cross, INAIL, and the Italian National Institute of Health, alongside media partners who covered the event live.
The initiative offered a wide range of healthcare services, including Pap tests, mammograms and breast ultrasounds, Hepatitis C screenings, HPV vaccinations, cardiology check-ups with ECGs, and the distribution of colorectal cancer screening kits. Alongside the screenings, training courses open to all were organized—covering resuscitation, airway clearance, and breast self-examination—as well as specialist consultations in nutrition, psychology, dermatology, ophthalmology, and hematology.
Completing the program were numerous information and awareness activities: from blood donation with a mobile blood collection unit, to sexual education and road safety initiatives organized by the Italian Red Cross, alongside dedicated spaces for scientific information and prevention promoted by the Italian National Institute of Health (ISS) and INAIL.
A concrete commitment that reinforces Sapienza’s role not only as a place of education and research, but also as a hub for promoting wellbeing and a culture of prevention.
