Within the framework of the national PRO-BEN project, funded by the Ministry of University and Research, LUMSA University has introduced a series of 5 experiential seminars dedicated to students’ psychological wellbeing, aiming to offer a space for reflection, awareness, and personal growth.
The 5 seminars, curated by the LUMSA Psychological Counseling Service and initiated by Professors Marco Cacioppo and Simona de Stasio, took place from September 16th to October 23rd, 2025, at the LUMSA University Department of Human Sciences. Each seminar, organized into three two-hour sessions, explored a specific dimension of psychological wellbeing:
- Lost Selves? The Many Faces of Identity in the Digital Communication Era (Dr. Raffaella Cecchini): Insights into behavioral addictions related to the world of social media, aimed at increasing awareness of the risks involved in “inhabiting a virtual world rather than a world of relationships that, though imperfect, are real”;
- Youth in ActION: Recognizing Oneself Amid Fears, Expectations, Desires, and Future Plans (Dr. Sabina Spagna): Addressing the transition from youth to adulthood by exploring the psychological challenges related to perfectionism and the fear of failure.
- The Anxiety of Imperfection (Dr. Flavia Luisa Ricci): The influence that the anxiety of imperfection can have on interpersonal relationships, and how to recognize and manage the psychosomatic and behavioral mechanisms triggered by anxiety.
- Perfect or Nothing? A Path for Those Feeling Balanced Between Success and Failure (Dr. Chiara Bacile and Dr. Lilia Vacciarelli): How perfectionism and the fear of failure influence the way students experience university life.
- Navigating Change: Voices and Experiences of the University Journey (Dr. Lucrezia Trani and Dr. Luciano Grillo): How to address uncertainty, DisorientationA feeling of being confused, lost, or not knowing which direction to take in life or in your studies., and a sense of instability when building one’s future as individuals and professionals during a complex and transitional phase of life.
The seminar cycle was organized by the LUMSA Psychological Counseling Service, a psychological support space available to students, PhD candidates, and the university’s technical and administrative staff.
